Benefits of Ramadan

The blessed month of Ramadan is the blessing of ALLAH swt over us. in this month, we observe fats and do ibadah without the fear of the satan because satan is captured in Ramadan. Our holy book was revealed in this blessed month and the completion of Quran also took place in Ramadan.

AL-Quran 2:185

“The month of Ramadân in which was revealed the Qur'ân, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the guidance and the criterion (between right and wrong).-----------“

Fasting in Ramadan is the ibadah we all must do if we can (not ill). But the wisdom behind fasting is not just to complete obligatory ibadah. There are many benefits attached with fasting and the month of Ramadan.

>> In Ramadan, we can test our conscience and nafs. Since satan is captured and he cannot be there to instruct his followers to misguide humankind, so we can take care of our nafs and our conscience. In this holy month, we can start striving to do the good and to avoid the evil. Any sincere effort in this month will not only earn us huge reward but also earn us the courage to face our own selves, the evil inside our own nafs. Once a person faces his own evil, he can win any battle. So the best thing Ramadan can give us is the revival of a pure soul which we lose in the race of life.

>> Ramadan brings with it the plenty of rewards. The actions we do in daily life earn more reward in Ramadan. So, in the whole month of Ramadan, we can earn the rewards equal to the 11 months. The greed of earning reward makes our soul pour and our conscience having a firm grip over our nafs. This will be the reward we will need the most in the Day of Judgment. So, we all should strive to seek pleasure of ALLAH swt and to earn more and more rewards for our hereafter.

>> fasting is not only a necessary ibadah but it is a way to surrender our will to ALLAH swt. When we do not eat and drink willingly, when we do not go near sins willingly, so that we can sincerely complete our fast, we turn towards our Lord in humbleness. This is the way to shun all the pride and the high feelings about ourselves and what we have. Surely, a person with pride cannot be a good muslim and he can never surrender his will for anyone.

>> fasting makes us feel the hunger and thirst that the poor feel most of the time in their lives. Through this feeling we can understand how those people, who do not have enough to eat and enough to drink, live. Once we get the feeling for feeling for others, this is the point, where the betterment of the society takes place in a muslim society. To understand and feel the suffering of the powerless and weak people is the first step towards the standing in front of a wicked ruler as well as taking steps to help others.

>> the night of qadar comes in Ramadan, so we get a chance to actually feel closer to ALLAH and to pray for our future and all that is coming to us. We can pray with utmost surety about ourselves, about our parents and everything that is around us. Indeed, it is great to have the feeling of our closeness with our Lord.
>> iman part of fasting is the most important part and if we observe fast in spirit, we can learn much more, the we actually learn from books. Fasting has a very positive impact on our health as well. We eat and drink and do not give rest to our stomach. In this one month, we do the best with our stomach by giving it rest for hours. Medical science has proven the health of stomach from fasting.

Al-Quran 44:003
“We sent it (this Qur'ân) down on a blessed night [(i.e. night of Qadr, Sûrah No: 97) in the month of Ramadân — the 9th month of the Islâmic calendar]. Verily, We are ever warning [mankind that Our Torment will reach those who disbelieve in Our Oneness of Lordship and in Our Oneness of worship].”

It is up to us to take this month of great number of benefits seriously.
