Rights of Husbands In Islam

We talk about Quran and Sunnah and all that has been ordered to us to make our life partners happy. What we do not understand is that to lead a happy life, one must not expect that from the other which the other cannot get or fulfill. Happiness of married life depends on both man and his wife. Man is the protector so the wife. He is the one responsible to earn for her and to give her shelter and to feed her and cloth her with the rizq ALLAH gives him.

Man faces the hardships outside home he earns for the family and spends much of his time out to make the livelihood. Wife remains at home does the domestic work and takes care of the kids. There are some responsibilities of wives that they should take seriously to avoid troubles and have a happy family. When man is out it is wife who has to take decisions, but those decisions should not affect the relationship. There are certain things women should do to avoid problems.

1: they should remain loyal with their husbands. They should not talk to a na mahrum so that their hearts do not indulge into the evil. Wives are the guardians or their chastity for their husbands. Alas, today, women do not care much about this. They do not care for the likeness or dislike-ness of their husbands. This is sin.

2: wives should not argue over the decision of their husbands before understanding the matters fully. Their arguments could lead to the major problems. Wives should act responsibly rather than childishly. This point may sound ridiculous to some, but the matter of the fact is, women do argue with husbands over matters which they do not care to understand.

3: women are responsible for caring the kids. They should not neglect this huge responsibility over their shoulders. Kids remain at home with the mother and in the absence of husband it is wife who has the responsibility of the kids. Kids start learning from their mothers. If a mother is good, next generation will be good, but if the mother is not good, they kids will be equally bad.

There is a hadith regarding marrying;

Bukhari :: Book 7 :: Volume 62 :: Hadith 27
Narrated Abu Huraira:

The Prophet said, "A woman is married for four things, i.e., her wealth, her family status, her beauty and her religion. So you should marry the religious woman (otherwise) you will be a losers.

A woman ill at religion or personality traits cannot be a good wife and can never be a good mother. A good muslimah will always adhere to the orders given in Quran and follow the foot prints of the wives of Holy Prophet Muhammad s.a.w.w.

But if the wife ill treats her husband, she will be one of the deweller of hell. This is proven from a hadith.
Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 6, Number 301:

Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri:

Once Allah's Apostle went out to the Musalla (to offer the prayer) o 'Id-al-Adha or Al-Fitr prayer. Then he passed by the women and said, "O women! Give alms, as I have seen that the majority of the dwellers of Hell-fire were you (women)." They asked, "Why is it so, O Allah's Apostle ?" He replied, "You curse frequently and are ungrateful to your husbands. I have not seen anyone more deficient in intelligence and religion than you. A cautious sensible man could be led astray by some of you." The women asked, "O Allah's Apostle! What is deficient in our intelligence and religion?" He said, "Is not the evidence of two women equal to the witness of one man?" They replied in the affirmative. He said, "This is the deficiency in her intelligence. Isn't it true that a woman can neither pray nor fast during her menses?" The women replied in the affirmative. He said, "This is the deficiency in her religion."

This hadith is a warning to women, and then it talks about those females who do not treat their husbands well. A man who earns for his wife all day long, who protects her from the evil eyes, who is a person to earn her respect and a noble place in the society, if she does not treats him well, she is certainly is wrong doer.
Husbands have rights over wives as wives have rights over husbands. Before islam, husbands had all the rights, but after islam, their rights were limited to the reasonable extent. If they are not given even these rights, this will be a sin on part of wife.
